Quartet for Violas - (2015)

The quartet is of four sections, .

It opens employing the texture of a motet, somewhat homophonic and with octave doublings surrounding inner voices.

A second section is a "song" in waltz time, spiccati accompanying a solo voice or voices in its various sections.

The third breaks from the up-tempo waltz, returning to minor harmonic colors in parallel motion.

The fourth is a round, as three voices chase over a pizzicato underpinning of the unchanging tonic.

A break from the round takes the form of "trading sides," before a return to the round, first with all voices pizzicato, and then to the short recap and coda.
