Tidbits for Three Clarinets - (2023) ![](images/01_Little_Green_Dot.gif)
The first of these short movements is, for the most part, a strict canon of a most melodic sort. At the pick to measure two and allegretto marking, the clarinets in order and at the "space" of a quarter note take up the theme. Throughout this order is maintained, as the first clarinet is chased by its fellows through a number of closely related tonal regions. The return of the snappy gesture makes this into a rondo form and canon at the same time.

The center adagio is a set of melodic variations, as the second clarinet sings out its theme. Thereafter the first restates with more decoration, and lastly the third an octave lower take sit up.

The final allegro is also canonic, this time the third clarinet begins with a related theme, and repetitions thereafter swap the lead between the others.
