Sonatina for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone - (2023) ![](images/01_Little_Green_Dot.gif)
for Kyle Lane
A small chamber trio for these instruments begins with simple closed position triadic harmony. At measure five, the trumpet takes the lead with the theme. A song form, ABA, is the general scheme, the contrasting section drawing away from the tonic somewhat.

A change of mood at the andante again places the melody in the trumpet with more distant tonal regions for variety.

At the presto, over a pedal in the trombone, the top voices trade major and minor gestures in quick succession, in a sort of "wrong note" bit of fun..

The allegro which follows some small interlude extends the rounds out the work, with some final reprise of the opening.
