Twelve Essays for Carillon- (2024)
for Michael Varnadore, Carillonneur
Charleston, South Carolina, boast a significant carillon among the nation's estimated 185 instruments, this at the Citadel Military College of South Carolina. adjacent to the Summerall Chapel. Its carillonneur, who also serves as chapel organist, was kind enough to give us a detailed tour of the instrument, and several occasions to more clearly come to appreciate this instrument. This became an opportunity to compose for it as for him, and at the same time write "essays" on varying scales and varying time signatures, exploring some less well known or less often used. Therefore in a collection of 17 pages....
