Fugue in C Hungarian Minor - (2015)

The "natural" minor scale altered by a raised fourth and raised seventh yields two augmented seconds within the octave, those between 3-4 and 6-7. The themes for this fugue highlight these as melodic and functional structures, as the subject appears in the tonic, mediant, subdominant and dominant regions, interwoven with counterpoint as with itself. The largo which opens also provides episodic material. Respectful citations of B-A-C-H assist in cadences between sections.
