Chromatic Rondo and Fugue in C minor - (2019)

for organ

   for Jacob Benda

A dotted rhythm as thematic element is paired with chromatic relationships inside the tonic minor tonal domain. Repetitions allow for registration changes as wished by the performer, as do sectional divisions in the rondo.

The fugue subject outlines the tonic minor triad, mediant minor and then diminished fifth at its onset, with answering mediant major and minor to return to the tonic's opening note. This derives from the chromaticism in the rondo which precedes. Episodic breaks between restatements of the subject often are arpeggios and scales in virtuosic fashion.
