In a continuing series of works centered around a tempo marking, this is in D Dorian, a canon for three voices in the manuals and pedal with introduction and short episodes. The theme is stated in the top voice as at measure eight, the second and third each successively a measure later. Subsequent entrances are simply invertible counterpoint.
