Adagio leggiero in B flat - (2024)
for organ
A distinction is made between 'progression 'and 'succession,' in terms of harmonies, specifically by Schoenberg. This short meditation is constructed on chord successions, for four minor sevens -- B flat minor7, G minor7, E flat minor 7 and C minor 7. All with B flat as the common tone. A simple pedal line then assists to underpin and affirm or amend the functional nature of these four chords in the left hand. A melody for solo voice is spun over them, with cadential material of similar relationship.
