...wie zwei Flöten süß - (2017)
for two flutes
Silvia Rozas Ramallal und Jonas Kämper gewidmet
A little suite of four movements is written after hearing two students from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin playing on Friedrichstrasse yesterday on a springtime afternoon. The suite was composed with a quote in mind about two flutes: "Hören Vögel, wie zwei Flöten süß / Ihre Sprache sprechen." Klabund, from the collection, "Chinesische Gedichte."
The first movement is a short ABA form.
The second in the relative minor is a canon as the flutes hint at the chirping and cooing of birds, referencing the quote from Klabund.
The third is scherzo-like, as the harmonic regions shift lightly.
The last is a fugue in duple and then triple meter.
