Swingtime and Fugue in D flat major
Parallel, closed position triads make the syncopated top "voice" over a
step-wise bass line. Episodes of contrasting material make this a small
rondo form, and provide motives for the fugue to follow.
fugue subject is accompanied throughout with cadential materials adding
non-harmonic lower neighbors for flavor. The textures remain generally
sparse as the subject moves to the highest range of the piano before
dropping into the bass.
