Seven Sequences and Fugue - (2011)
Thinking simple thoughts about meter, the notion of seven is not found
widely in the literature and many "sevens" are parts of changing meter
notations, more than as the underlying foundation of a work. So for this
notion, the meter is 7/8 and many of the harmonies are various seven chords
within the diatonic scale and beyond it. The occasional spice of
polytonality is also related at the seventh.
fugue subject in 7/8 is a series of falling sevenths, and the counterpoint
against is often tinged with parallel sevenths as well -- just for the fun
score is 3 pages, with an approximate performance time of 3' 30."
