Rondo cantabile - (2013)
for cembalo and organ
for Eric Bricet et Jean Yves Garet
Some most attractive virtual instruments have been created by two who run the website, Soni Musicae, Eric Bricet et Jean Yves Garet. Sampled instruments include a lovely French harpsichord modeled after Blanchet, circa 1720, as well as a small house organ, quite like a number of churches and theaters have for the continuo ensembles in concert work. Bricet and Garet have allowed me pleasant moments of improvising using them, and so I thought to combine them in a work for two players. The gentle themes are passed back and forth between the instruments, and the work is dedicated to the creators of these sound samples which they graciously offered gratis, and as I do this and other scores.
