Princess Caroline's Waltz - (2017)
for harmonium
for Louis and Caroline Huivenaar
Visiting Louis Huivenaar's workshop in Dieren, the Netherlands, we auditioned a 1903 Victor Mustel harmonium manufactured in Paris and in need of restoration. A contract was given from the Staatsoper Berlin for this purpose, courtesy of private donors. Playing several of the instruments in the workshop was most interesting, and an invitation to dinner courtesy of his wife, Caroline, was offered. After a day of considering harmoniums, we enjoyed the lovely hospitality of their home and family before taking our leave. This little, light-hearted souvenir is a thank you note for the evening's food and fun.
