The simple tune is a Hungarian children's song. The short lyric reads: "Ég a gyertya, ég, / el ne aludjék, / aki lángot látni akar, / mind leguggoljék." "The candle is burning, burning, / don't let it go out, / those who want to see the flame / should all crouch down."
