A marching song for children, in the manner of so many "countdown" or additive songs which are popular. The theme is treated with a variety of techniques. For the fun of it.
"Ma poul' n'a plus qu' vingt-neuf poussins, / Elle en avait trente. / Allongeons la jambe, / Car la route est longue." ( My hen has twenty-nine chicks left, / She had thirty of them. / Our pace, let's quicken it, / It's a long way to go. )
