Little Variations in G major - (2021)

for organ

Score study remains a habit of mine, now over many years. When it came to the epic Goldberg Variations of Bach, a treasure trove of style and technique by which to be inspired, I found myself humming the bass line, so famous to players, audiences and musicologists. Variations, to include clustering of the notes of the ground bass into chord structures, came to mind. The thirteen include chords compacted, imitation and stretti, lirico sections and a final fugue. The theme is as below, used in a variety of ways and very often melodically.
