Canons for Oboe, Violin and Harpsichord- (2024)
For The Directors of Music, St. Philips Church, Charleston
Styled as "pop up" concerts, St. Philips in Charleston has had a number of small impromptu concerts in the midday, for all from tourists to regulars. The three musicians, share many musical skills from organ to oboe and violin to choral conducting, and more. For these impromptu concerts in the moment, oboe, violin and a delightful small triangular harpsichord are put together such that an audience can sit close up. On the occasion of Bach's birthday, I attended one, and thought to build a chamber work spun off from that, with B-A-C-H obvious from the beginning and following through to the final cadence..
