Arabesque and Fugue in E flat - (2023)

for organ

After the short introduction, a simple set of repeating 16ths for the manuals accompany a solo pedal line. The form is a modified ABA, and comes to an easy cadence, before the fugue.

The subject is a set of descending scale lines with a distinctive 32nd note ornament referring back to the "do" of the scale at each instance. The recurrence in the pedal of the suject of course does not require this awkward leap. A moment in the sub-mediant major adds to the harmonic domains' appearances.
