"...go your way till the end" - (2022) ![](images/01_Little_Green_Dot.gif)
for Zippy Hood
Last evening, we attended a performance of Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium, in which Alexandra Hood played beautifully the oboe d'amore as the third of the three oboes which the score demands. Wearing many musical hats, she is a teacher and conductor as well, and in chatting after the concert, the notion came to pen a little work. This is a set of variations, essentially a ground bass, with variants in the oboe (or oboe d'amore) and with a short episode which then returns to the first variation and final cadence "till the end."
The title is drawn from a verse, musing about the 12th chapter of Daniel. In the older English, "...go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."
