Swingtime and Fugue in G major - (2011)
for piano
The gambit is a simple gesture with a pedal running through it midst voices in opposing directions, aligned with the rhythm of swing time. As with many classical canon works, the remainder is a set of scales and sequences to extend and enlarge the gestures.
The fugue subject is stated without accompanying voices "in the clear." A rollicking set of short episodes break the exchange of subject and answer, drawn from the swingtime preceding.
The score is 3 pages, with an approximate performance time of 2' 00."
The score is available as a free PDF download, though any major commercial performance or recording of the work is prohibited without prior arrangement with the composer. Click on the graphic below for this piano score.
