Swingtime and Fugue in E flat major - (2011)

Broad opening swaths of seven chords outline E flat major, as the swing rhythm is declared above. A flurry of  downward pressing gestures and short melodic fragments add to the small, repetitive elements of this movement.

 

 

The fugue is stated without accompaniment, and its answer begins one of several counterpoints to it. Brilliant sweeps of arpeggios act an episodic material between statements.
