Swingtime and Fugue in D minor - (2011)
for piano
A set of chromatic gestures rise and fall in long arches, broken by imitative passages rooted squarely in the harmonic minor. The minor tonic with its major seventh functions in part as a curtain between sections.
After the rush of chromatic lines in the first part, the fugue uses the leading tone to the fifth in a harmonic minor, with the answer beginning the accompanying counterpoint. A set of sequences round out the subject's length.
The score is 4 pages, with an approximate performance time of 3' 20."
