Swingtime and Fugue in D flat major

Swingtime and Fugue in D flat major - (2011)

for piano

Parallel, closed position triads make the syncopated top "voice" over a step-wise bass line. Episodes of contrasting material make this a small rondo form, and provide motives for the fugue to follow.

The fugue subject is accompanied throughout with cadential materials adding non-harmonic lower neighbors for flavor. The textures remain generally sparse as the subject moves to the highest range of the piano before dropping into the bass.

The score is 4 pages, with an approximate performance time of 3' 15."

The score is available as a free PDF download, though any major commercial performance or recording of the work is prohibited without prior arrangement with the composer. Click on the graphic below for this piano score.
