Seven Sequences and Fugue - (2011)
for piano
Thinking simple thoughts about meter, the notion of seven is not found widely in the literature and many "sevens" are parts of changing meter notations, more than as the underlying foundation of a work. So for this notion, the meter is 7/8 and many of the harmonies are various seven chords within the diatonic scale and beyond it. The occasional spice of polytonality is also related at the seventh.
The fugue subject in 7/8 is a series of falling sevenths, and the counterpoint against is often tinged with parallel sevenths as well -- just for the fun of it.
The score is 3 pages, with an approximate performance time of 3' 30."
