Prelude and Fugue in G minor - (2012)
for piano
As with the sister Prelude and Fugue in the major, this highlights the lower neighbors to scale notes, influencing the harmonies thereby. The marcato theme in the bass line then is carried in an upper voice as response in the tenor range of the keyboard. A contrasting section breaks the mood while retaining the dotted rhythms.
The fugue subject appears after the short prelude, a lingering G minor from the cadence becoming the first gesture in the sequences which make the subject. Taken from the B section of the prelude, and accompaniment figure appears, and the subject is never stated alone.
