Prelude and Fugue in G major - (2010)
for organ
The prelude is a gentle, four-part chorale texture, its theme being the fifth and tonic degrees of the scale as at the opening. Sequences, minimal decorations and suspended voice leading fill out the whole.
The fugue subject is based on the repetition of the fifth-tonic relationship as in the prelude. This compact working out of the theme includes multiple instances of parallel triadic movement in the three voices as in the later part of measure 48 and beyond. Prelude and fugue cadence with the same gestures.
