Prelude and Fugue in F sharp minor - (2011)
for piano
Over a arch of accompanying chords, arpeggios which answer the bass line, a long-lined melody sings. A bridge breaks away from the deepest register of the piano for a moment before the gravitas of the theme returns.
The fugue subject rest on the natural minor, beginning on the lower seventh to the tonic. In contrast to the prelude, the fugue features delicately the upper register of the piano, with successive voices dropping down to a final reference to the prelude.
