Prelude and Fugue in E minor - piano

Prelude and Fugue in E minor - (2012)

for piano

The alternation of natural and harmonic minor play out through the prelude in two measure spans, a chromatic run upwards and a set of clusters providing rhetorical punctuation between repetitions.

The fugue subject is a Gestalt of two voices emphasizing the natural minor as it begins with the minor sixth and seventh together in a falling gesture answered in the next with an upward sweep. The short fugue ends with alternating phrases of the fugue passing between upper and lower registers.
