Prelude and Fugue in E minor - (2010)
for organ
The prelude relies mostly on the melodic minor, such that major dominant harmonies are absent. The pedal line carries a long lined, simple melody as the manuals fill harmonically. Small dynamic contrasts are noted, and the emphasis in the prelude is for the lower registers and registrations.
The fugue is also reliant on the melodic minor, such that the subject as answer restated at the fifth seems quite like an extension of the single melody and underlying tonality. Successive entrances increase the dynamic intensity as the fugue progresses. I chose an 8' flute with a 1&3/5' tierce as the opening gambit.
