Prelude and Fugue in E flat minor - (2010)
for organ
The five-part motet texture builds small harmonic pyramids, the pedal commenting on and after the manuals, before joining in the longer lined voice leading. Lower neighbors melodically resolve throughout as decoration and in relation to the harmonic minor's raised sixth and seventh of the scale.
The fugue subject is derived from the opening gesture of the prelude, and thence treated as a traditional fugue excepting the pedal's extreme augmentation of the theme beneath after the first answer.
