Prelude and Fugue in B minor - (2012)
for piano
The prelude opens with the natural minor, harmonies which easily suggest the relative major. After opening gestures, the raised sixth and seventh as well as the leading tone to the dominant color more clearly the return to the tonic. Bright 32nd note arpeggios provide a contrast to the opening gambit before a return.
The fugue subject is the harmonic minor in a simple rising scale, with additional phrases and syncopation. The answers appear in the expected dominant and tonic.
