On "Mareta, mareta, no'm faces plorar" - (2018)
for piano
This Catalan lullaby speaks in its lyric: "Mareta, mareta, no'm faces plorar, / compra'm la nineta avui qu'es el meu sant." In a variant, "Mareta, mareta / anit vaig somiar / que una nineta / em vares comprar." A child implores the mother to buy her a doll. Yet the lullaby is sung to a child, such that one might imagine this with a subtext as the mother thinks of her own childhood and her mother. The two scenes would play out together in a veiled, gray nostalgia.
