On Bonden Och Kråkan - (2016)

for piano

The children's folk melody and lyric come from Sweden.  "Och bonden han körde/ till furuskog. / Där såg han en kråka / som satt och gol, / Och bonden han vände / då om igen. / "Ajaj!, mor, den kråkan / hon biter mig!"   "A farmer drove / Where he saw a crow / Which sat, cawing. / And the farmer then / Turned back home. / "Ow! Ow! Ma'am, that crow / Will peck at me!"  The outlandish tale has told in increasingly unbelievable exaggerations has the farmer shoot the crow, and then make twelve pounds of candles from the tallow, vats of salted meat, eighteen pairs of shoes, stuffing for mattresses and pillows, fans, a church tower, and at the end a sailing ship.
