Humoresque and Fugue in D flat major - (2011)
for piano
The jaunty theme bubbles through parallel major triads in a light polytonal romp. Sweeps of arpeggios and odd half-cadences make episodes between the theme's appearances. Rubato per the inclinations of the performer is recommended.
The fugue is related rhythmically to the humoresque, and some further appearance of portions of the fugue subject wander into slightly distant tonal regions as implied in the major parallelism of the humoresque.
