Alice Corbin

 

Alice Corbin Henderson (1881–1949) was an American poet, author and poetry editor. A lengthy biography and other information and information about a collection of her works is available at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin, which includes an interesting list of many artists and writers with whom she corresponded. The text is found in Poetry: A Magazine of Verse, ed. Harriet Monroe, 1912–22, from her collection titled Old Songs for New.

 

 

A light hearted romp in 5/4 echoes the shape and amusing typography, as the poet suggests a strophic song-form.
