In the perennial battle of the sexes, humor has been a relevant component. None more so than for poets and authors, and for this Claudius has painted a charmingly sweet sketch using the metaphor from the story of the first man in his Garden of Eden.
Written for medium tessitura, this setting is utterly simple. Essentially only the two chords of tonic with its major seventh and dominant in suspension, this short setting is but one long arch made of several smaller arch-like forms to underscore Claudius' humor.
