Concerto in C for Viola and String Orchestra - (2021) ![](images/01_Little_Green_Dot.gif)
An opening cadenza of chords and scale runs marked a piacere is followed by an opening statement for solo viola over pizzicati followed by the full ensemble, first in the major and then parallel minor, before variations and recap.

This is followed by a lyrical allegretto in triple meter and relative minor moving to the major.

Thereafter an imitative movement in C minor, an energetic allegro in 5/4 meter.

The allegro gives way an adagietto in the major, contrasting harmonies moving to the mediant major and back. A solo over this text moves through its fioratura and into a cadenza-like moment before return.

The adagietto yields to a transitional allegretto, and thence to an up tempo presto, a fugue moving through many related tonal regions. The initial subject is stated in the solo viola accompanied by pizzicati before the whole ensemble takes up the subject in several guises.
